Situated half way between York and Tadcaster (hence the name), this two storey Travelodge hotel is one of those types you see along many an A-road. Whilst not a particularly great option for sightseers and tourists, this Travelodge might be a cheap alternative if you’re visiting family or friends – or perhaps attending a wedding in the city.
Hotel Location & Facilities
The rooms are furnished as you’d expect and there are double and family room options available – the latter being suitable for 2 adults and 2 children. All rooms have ensuite bathrooms, TVs, desks and tea & coffee making stuff.
The other facilities are pretty limited. There are no options for a cooked breakfast – just a choice between the two Travelodge breakfast boxes. However, there is a Little Chef nearby where you can grab a hot meal.
Whilst the room prices are competitive you are six miles outside of the city and will be a reliant on a car if you want to visit York’s attractions – so there will be additional car parking charges to consider. The hotel is on the right side of the city for York Racecourse however and might well work out as a cheap option on racedays.
Although some road noise may be heard due to the hotel’s proximity to the A64, it’s not actually too bad at night when there’s a lot less traffic going past.
Access to the hotel via the A64 is only from the eastbound side of the dual carriageway (as you head towards York). If you’re heading towards Tadcaster you’ll need to come off at the next junction and go back on yourself.
