An excellent location for visitors to York, Travelodge York Central Micklegate is a great option if you’re coming to the city for a night on the tiles (or the cobbles in our case). The hotel is just at the end of Micklegate – one of the city’s main drinking streets – and close to Ouse Bridge which leads you into the city centre proper.
Hotel Facilities & Location
Due perhaps to it’s location it is popular with those out for a good time. To accommodate business guests as well, Travelodge have a designated business floor where you can get a good nights sleep without worrying about being woken by your boisterous neighbours finding their way back from the pub.
The available rooms are either double or twin and are furnished in the way all Travelodge rooms are. You get the comfy bed, spartan but functional ensuite, desk, TV and basic tea and coffee making facilities. A unique boutique hotel experience this is not, however you don’t come to York for the hotel! Cots for little ones, hairdryers and ironing boards are available on request.
There isn’t any onsite parking, however you can get a third off at the nearest NCP car park if you validate your ticket at reception. Full price parking costs £22.50 for the between 12 and 24 hours. WiFi is free for the first 30 minutes and then £3 for a 24 hour period after (if you have the data, 4G connectivity in York is excellent).
Travelodge offer different prices for the same room – all with slightly different features. The Early Booking Rate is the cheapest but won’t be refunded if you cancel the room. The Flexible Rate is a bit more expensive but you can cancel your booking up until noon on your arrival date. There is then an extra cost if you want to add breakfast or unlimited WiFi to either the Early Booking or Flexible Rate.
