Originally a 15th century timber-framed house, The Black Swan was turned into a pub in the 18th century. There are three separate rooms downstairs and a function room upstairs – home to regular folk and comedy nights. Panelled walls, low ceilings, sloping floors and – in the winter – an open fire, provide the complete “historic York” experience. Serves some good pub grub and a solid selection of beers and ales.
