Quaint 18th century pub hidden away down one of York’s many cobbled lanes; the Ackhorne is ideal if you need to escape the tourist hoards for a quiet afternoon pint. A traditional style ‘boozer’ with lots of dark wood and curious paraphernalia on display – and a selection of real ales on tap. Although partially open plan, it’s divided by a small partition into two drinking areas and there’s a raised beer garden/patio area to the rear.
Oh, and if you’re wondering it’s pronounced ‘acorn’ rather than ‘akorn’.
