The 24 & St Salvator’s Chapel Choir
In 40 parts
Tallis – Spem in alium
Striggio – Mass in 40 parts
Gabriel Jackson – Sanctum est verum lumen
and works by Victoria and Vaughan Williams
This special collaboration brings together The 24 and the flagship choir of the University of St Andrews for both this concert and one in St Andrews, on 27 May. Taking advantage of numbers, larger-scale items include movements from Striggio’s Mass that inspired Tallis’ Spem in Alium (both of which will have been recently sung by The 24 and I Fagiolini in Florence) and the best of more recent 40-part adventures, Jackson’s wonderful ‘Holy is the true light’.

Audiences are standing and cheering, and the national critics are raving about Bill Kenwright’s spectacularly stunning and hilariously funny new production of La Cage Aux Folles, currently on its first national UK tour.
Georges and the dazzling drag artiste Albin, otherwise known as Za Za and the star of la Cage aux Folles, live an idyllic existence in the heart of St Tropez. But behind the curtains of this sparkling extravaganza, all may be about to change. Georges’ son Jean-Michel announces his engagement to the daughter of a notorious right-wing politician determined to close down the local colourful night-life. Drama and hilarity ensue when a meeting of the parents forces them to cover up their vibrant lifestyle.
Will Albin be able to play the role of his life to ensure that Jean-Michel can marry his love?
The cast features West End star John Partridge whose extensive theatre credits include the West End productions of A Chorus Line at the London Palladium, Cats, Starlight Express and Chicago. On television he played Officer Vince Romano alongside William Shatner in the long running hit series T.J. Hooker and big screen credits include Johnny in Grease 2. Joining them is West End icon, Marti Webb. She received huge critical acclaim for Tell Me on a Sunday, a show specifically written for her by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Don Black.
The show-stopping score includes The Best of Times, With You on My Arm and the iconic I Am What I Am.
